"loaded with strong usable material at a very reasonable price. Well written, fun to read and fun to do. A true bargain that may (like Harris early works) set a new standard for those who will be writing the books in the future."
The Magic Portal, Reviewer 8/27/2015 Full Review
"The routines taught all share several things in common, starting with a playful, interesting premise and a full script. In general the presentations are fun and, at times, silly, so they wont work for everyone. However, they are well written and have some very funny moments, so even if one doesnt copy the author verbatim, there is something to be gleaned from each. "

"This is an exceptional book filled with solid material that is both visual and strong. Some classic ideas have life breathed back in to them and new twists and plots as well as moves to keep every close-up magician happy. "
Paul Romhany, *Reviews Vanish Magazine 6/30/2015
"...the magic is novel, clever, and very effective. It's also a whole lot of fun."
David Britland, Genii Magazine 7/27/2015
"The 80s Called is a delightful magic book. Its ironic without being flippant; nostalgic without being sappy. Friedman shows that he can have a great time and still cite his sources like an academic. And best of all, by including Volume One in the title, he hints that theres more magic to come."
Jared Kopf, Magic Magazine 7/27/2015
"a varied selection of some very workable routines using simple props in a well written smartly produced book."
